The machines only accept their own spin city card, which costs $1.00. Then the minimum amount you can load on the card is $10.00, so I started with a $9.00 balance on my card. The wash was $5.75 and the dry was $3.50, so I was $0.25 short and had to load another $10 to finish. I’m not complaining about the prices but they should change the minimum on the card. I only use a laundromat once or twice a year and chances are I’ll miss-place the card with $9.25 balance on it between now and then.
The place is clean.

We have 3 Big Blanket brand blankets that are difficult to wash at home. Washed and dried them at Spin City within 1 hour. Easy to purchase a card to use with the washers and dryers. Cards can be purchased with cash or card.

To be honest is the best laundromat I’ve been at.
1. I don’t have to drive for 5 to 10min to get to the laundromat.
2. No need of coins, instead I get  a card that you can just add money with cash or debit card. I don’t have to go around asking to change bills for coins and they only say I can just give you 2drs.
3. It’s right across my building
4. Always clean, nice chairs and tables perfect to do homework while waiting
So at the end this is a great place including for college and university students

This is a very clean, modern laundromat. All machines and surfaces as well as the bathrooms were completely spotless.

Rather than using quarters, all of the machines only take preloaded laundromat cards that you can get from a machine near the front.
Despite having card readers, none of the machines actually take credit cards; you need to preload the laundromat card in order to use them. I assume that this is to save the establishment from paying the credit card companies too much money in transaction fees from a lot of small payments, but it also has the unfortunate effect that you'll almost always have some unspent money left on your card since the preloaded amounts usually won't exactly match what it costs to wash your clothes. This is fine if you're planning on frequenting the place, but if you're coming in from out of town or haven't decided whether to switch laundromats yet, this is essentially just wasted money - unless they have some way to refund loaded money, though I didn't see any option like this readily available.
They also charge you $1 for printing a new card, which I find pretty dishonest. These plastic cards can't cost more than one or two cents a piece. Charging people just for the ability to access your services seems like a bad business model to me.

All the machines work very well. They cleaned and dried my clothes perfectly fine.

They offer a wide variety of washer sizes, though the way they're labelled is a bit confusing. The smallest size of washer is marked with two "baskets" of clothes, though its actual size is so small that I can only imagine it being able to wash maybe half a hamper. Unless you're supposed to cram as much clothes as can possibly fit into the machines. I found that the 3x basket size was big enough to wash one standard rectangle-sized basket of clothes.

I believe that this is quite a bit more than their competitor across town. Last time I checked I think that Squeaky Clean's price for a standard wash was $3.75, and the size of their machines is about equivalent to a 4x basket size here. This will probably keep quite a few people away, though if you live close enough the convenience might be worth it.

Don’t need a laundromat often, but would drive across town to wash large blankets/other items that don’t dry in our dryer well every so often. Very easy kiosk to load their cards with your card or cash. Plenty of washers and dryers, all very clean and easy to use.

Love this place! It's clean and the prices are pretty good. $3.50 for a standard cycle in a medium size (bigger than home washer) and takes 25 minutes. They also have much larger washers that cost more if you need it. Machines are pretty new, screens have progress bars on them which is something I haven't seen before. Only downsides are they close at 11pm and the machines are quarters only, no mobile app paying like some other places offer. Still think this is the best laundromat in Ames though.

Outrageous prices for machines that don’t get the job done. Clothes came out of the dryer wet and still covered in cat hair. Even split the loads to make sure the machines weren’t overloaded.

My washing machine at my apartment is broken and I’ve never been to a laundromat before.  I got there and it was very open and had a lot of great quality washers and dryers.  It was also well kept and clean.  The only knock I have is that it cost me 6 bucks for a load of laundry.

The place was dirty, i was using one of the big big washing machines, i start it and few minutes later it stops and says out of order. So I needed to spend even more money on another machine plus detergent. Still have not gotten a refund from this place.

I Dropped off dress shirts for starch & press and while the order was filled by the time promised, I got back shirts with new wrinkles and 2 of the never worn shirts had some kind of spots/stain on them. It was absolutely awful and these are for a wedding this weekend. I do not recommend this dry cleaners at all! Will not be back.

Six months ago I dropped off my clothes for dry cleaning. When I had picked them up and got them home I noticed that there was a pair of pants missing, a grey pair. I consulted the owner after three or four times of trying to, he said that he would look for them, but after about two weeks he said he couldn’t find them, told me to get another pair and bring him the receipt, so I did, he then told me that it would take awhile as it would be coming from Carroll Iowa. I waited for three months and finally consulted him on Tuesday. First He told me that he was greasing a tub and then began to start yelling at me that this was the third time that I had done this and that he wasn’t going to pay for anything. I then told him that I would stop bringing my clothes to him and that I was going to stand outside of his establishment with a sign. He said go ahead. I have also shared this experience with the BBB

Dropped off a suit and paid an extra $10 fee for it to be done before the expected time. My suit wasn’t cleaned until 2 days after they said it would be done. Was told I was going to get a refund due to this but when it came down to it the owner refused in a not so friendly way. On top of it had to pay an extra $25 for reasons they couldn’t explain. Don’t ever go here.

Worst dry cleaner I have ever used. Picked up two suits and eight shirts and it was $92, way higher than any other cleaner I have used. Got them home and almost all of the shirts were dirty around the collars and one of the suits had visible stains on the front. Pressing was terrible. Then when I took them back in, they didn’t apologize or even act surprised. Terrible job and terrible service. Will not use them again!

I do not leave reviews bc I think it's lame to be a narc but I spent $320 on dry cleaning for clothes that I was planning on taking on a 3 week vacation and literally none of my clothes were cleaned. Every single spot still there. Maybe it was just fluke and the person cleaning my clothes stunk but I will not be returning.

i do not recommend this place. Jan 22nd, 2020 at 2:45pm, the woman working at their Mortensen location told me personally that she did not care that their business ruined 400$ of my collection of tailored shirts. I found her personality repulsive and I would highly recommend the owners of this business train their staff to be more receptive to customer issues.

Poor customer service. Our pickup ticket said Wednesday, and no one told us this was Wednesday after 3:00pm. I went in Wednesday at 8:30 to pick our attire up. It was not even at the location I was at. I went to the main location and asked for a discount because one item was still damp and I had to drive across town, which made me late. I firmly told the manager to write on the ticket after 3:00pm or at least to train all her employees to say this. She then replied that her employee did say this, so who are they going to believe!!! We will never use their services again, and I hope you won't either.

Awful experience! Grand Cleaners ruined my (irreplaceable) silk items by melting/scorching them with a press, then lied about it. Claimed they weren't pressed & tried to blame it on the chemicals used for cleaning them & "manufacturer defects." Horrible communication - avoided phone calls/attempts to contact. Denied that they damaged the items, even though they showed obvious signs of being pressed (yeah, iron creases kind of give it away, right?)... AND still tried to deny it even after another dry cleaner (who's been in business 40+ years) had attested the damage was clearly caused by a press. Took a month to resolve, but that wasn't even with the cleaners themselves... the cleaners have a branch in Hy-Vee, and since I got nowhere with the actual owner of Grand Cleaners, Hy-Vee stepped in and finally resolved the issues. (Thank goodness Hy-Vee's staff had the moral standards to set things right.) Would NOT use this dry cleaner again, & would NOT recommend them to others!

Brought in Thursday before 10am and had my suit ready by 1pm the next day. Thanks for the quick turnaround and friendly service. Will definitely be back.

Have never had any issues with this cleaner. They are always clear on when the items will be ready and have always done a good job. The afternoon employees are espeiespec friendly.
