I have waited six months for the owner to return my calls and answer my questions.  Since that has never materialized, I will post my experience so others can be beware.  I dropped off a dress to be cleaned and asked the price.  Told it would be $20.00.  It was an Oscar de la Renta dress that I had bought on sale years before for $150.  When I picked it up the charge was $210!  I thought it was a typo but they had already charged my card on file.  Incredibly rude counter woman told me it was because it was couture.  It was not couture - it was a day dress from their bridge line and they were charging me more to clean it than I had paid for it.  No one ever called to tell me the price change ahead of time. When I asked to speak to manager or owner I was told they were off property and unavailable.  I asked for a phone number or email.  Denied.

A friend of mine whom I told about this called me a few days later to tell me she was in to pick up cleaning and there was a woman there picking up a bridal gown and it was only $250!  As you can see from my pictures, my dress was no bridal gown!

My kitten went into heat and sprayed on a very expensive sweater. When I got back home I noticed it still smelled like cat piss and there was still a noticeable stain on the white inside (the outside is black). I called them to see if they had any tricks they would work to try and get it out, so they told me to bring it back in for a complimentary rework. I showed them the stain on the inside and the lady made a note for it (don’t recall her name but she was very nice) and said it would be ready in a week.

The next day I got a call saying it was ready for pickup. The sweater looked and smelled brand new, and the piss stain is essentially gone which is pretty amazing for not using bleach.. Not sure what they did but I’m definitely satisfied. Will be back!

I’ve been a loyal customer of this business for over five years, consistently bringing in large orders—sometimes 20+ items every few weeks—despite the premium pricing. While I was initially willing to pay for the convenience and the promise of high-quality service, my recent experience has been extremely disappointing.

Over the past several months, I’ve encountered numerous issues with damaged items, including marked or stained silk garments, faulty stitching, and a noticeably altered (and expensive) pair of Zimmerman shorts. The total value of the affected items is over $3,000. I compiled a detailed booklet with photos, item descriptions, and pricing to present my concerns clearly.

Despite multiple in-person visits, follow-up calls, and over 3 months of back-and-forth communication, there has been no meaningful resolution. The owner, Brian, has repeatedly deflected responsibility and made excuses rather than addressing the issue directly or offering any form of compensation or repair.

It’s disappointing that a business charging $100+ for cleaning a single dress or jacket would show such disregard for long-time, high-volume customers. Unfortunately, this level of customer service does not reflect the professionalism one should expect from a premium cleaner.

I can no longer recommend this establishment. If you’re looking for quality care and respectful service, East Bay Cleaners just down the street has been both affordable and a pleasure to work with.

I am from Mt Pleasant and Prestige was reccomended by a neighbor. After several poor experiences with Julius and On the Spot  I feel blessed to have found Prestige.  They are excellent and they go above and beyond to provide phenomenal customer service.  My clothes look like new. Its 15 from the fulton area and 5 mins frim from the bridge with a parking lot.  I encourage anybody that needs cleaning of any sort to use Prestige

They consistently provide excellent service and make life so much easier with their phone app as well as their pick up/drop off delivery service. We have an older bedspread we had saved after buying another one just for a “change”. When we moved we decided to use our old favorite one again but it needed a cleaning. We took it to Prestige cleaners as we had read previous reviews. We just put it back on our bed today. It was so fresh and clean and looked new and they presented it to us in a very lovely container. We were very happy with the whole experience. We certainly will use them again!

Would absolutely recommend. I switched dry cleaners after my last drop off all came back smelling mildewed and I’m so glad I did. My work jackets came back so clean, gorgeously pressed and ready to go. Really impressed with the service as well.

We have been using Waters for years and they are the best on the island!! A true family owned business. I just recently got my wedding dress boxed by them as well and they did a fantastic job! Highly recommend for any and all of your dry cleaning needs.

New to the area and couldn’t be happier to have found Ben and his dad’s business. Curbside service on Folly on the way to work doesn’t get much more convenient, and they give you a claim ticket with text updates if your stuff is available sooner. Definitely worth giving them a try even if you’ve been going somewhere else for a while.

Had a same day dry cleaning emergency. The owner helped me out personally and got it handled in a few hours. Would recommend to anyone needing a dry cleaner service! Family run business and does an outstanding job dry cleaning, even better customer service.

I would give zero stars if I could. Brought multiple suits to be cleaned, one charcoal and one blue. I think they charged me $70, which is insane. I come to discover 45 minutes before a wedding that they couldn’t use the minimal amount of care required to correctly match my suit jackets and pants when bagging them. If you want to spend an exorbitant amount of money for people who don’t care to mess up the one thing you’re relying on them to do correctly, then this is the perfect spot.

Brought in a silk dress with no stains or issues, picked it up and when I took the plastic off it is completely ruined. It looks like it got caught in a machine; the sleeves have little holes and wrinkles, every single pleat stitch around the bodice is pulled, there are oily looking stains all over the top half with color bleeding on the collar. Their number is disconnected and no one responds to email. Awful experience, do not go here

THE 109 RUTLEDGE AVE CONSTRUCTION WORKERS PARK THEIR VEHICLES AND STAGE MATERIALS IN THE PARKING LOT AT WILL DAILY WITHOUT BEING TOLD THAT THEY ARE TRESPASSING AND THEY ARE NOT GIVEN WARNINGS BY THE POLICE. EVERYONE WALKING UP AND DOWN RUTLEDGE AVE THROW TRASH AND POOP BAGS IN THE BINS WITHOUT RECEIVING WARNINGS. IF YOU OFFEND THE DRY CLEANING EMPLOYEE IN ANY SMALL WAY, SHE WILL CALL THE CHARLESTON POLICE AND YOU MAY END UP GETTING ARRESTED. SHE APPEARS *IMO* TO BE UNSTABLE AND UNHINGED. UPDATE: The employee of the dry cleaners has had me cited by the Charleston Police for 'trespass notice', with arrest to follow next time, for simply putting flyers on windshields of only THREE cars warning them of the tree danger: The owners' car, a tenant's car, and the employee's car. In no way was the employee singled out. The employee threatened me "stay away from my car" in front of Officer C. Batiz and I'm the one that gets cited.
I attempted to resolve my problem with the owner/manager but she will not return my messages. The employee that works at the Rutledge location is VERY selective in what she gets involved with in the immediate neighborhood when she should mind her own business with the neighbors and stay inside the business. The neighboring construction workers at 109 Rutledge park in the lot almost daily and often stage materials...she has no problem with them trespassing. If Bartlett Tree Experts need to access our property, she needs to get involved. She even comes outside and stands beside the owner of the bldg when the owner is shouting at the Bartlett Tree crew...leaving the business unattended. The discrimation by the employee is consistent and outrageous. Considering litigation against this employee, the owner of the dry cleaning business and the owners of the building. And I won't even get into the articles of clothing destroyed here. I can't believe there isn't a better dry cleaning business downtown given all of the expensive cars/affluent customers! This the worst dry cleaners that I have ever experienced.

Dropped off two pairs of trousers to wear to a work conference in Chicago. Just got to Chicago and took my pants out of my bag still in plastic from when I picked them up and they are covered in stains, front and back, both pairs. Unreal, guess I’m going to buy a new pair of trousers in the AM. Unacceptable, won’t be bringing my business back here.

I don’t normally leave reviews. I have been coming here for 5 years. The first 2.5 years were fine, but these last 2.5 years have been terrible. I have repeatedly had my buttons cut in half and shaved down or missing. What is really making me leave this review, was on the last pick up, not only did they shave the buttons, they removed one on both sleeves thinking I wouldn’t notice and sent it back. So in short please use caution and check your clothes and make sure you haven’t experienced the same thing I’m going through over and over. This has nothing to do with Nishika who works there as she is always kind, but more so the overall quality of the dry cleaning service. I have to request a manager to call me rather than them reaching out which also speaks volume to the quality of service here.

Dropped off shirts and slacks to be pressed and laundered. Asked for heavy starch. Expected clothes to be pressed along existing creases and shirt collars to look neat.
Shirts were not remotely heavy starched.
Collars came back in terrible shape and pants now have two creases.
What a mistake coming here!

Sadly, I feel I must post about my experience with Sandy’s Cleaners as I have exhausted all means in trying to have my situation rectified without going public.  In July I brought a 100% silk crinkle dress and scarf to have dry cleaned.  When I went to pick it up I noticed it looked like the upper part of the dress had been pressed loosing the shape of the dress.  Looks like the person doing it realized this fabric was not supposed to have been pressed and stopped at the waist.  Ms Delores, their seamstress, was kind enough to say she would personally take the dress back to the factory and show them the problem.  The dress returned in the same manner in which I was told by Mary, the sales attendant, that she would have Sandy look at it.  When I went back to check on it, the dress was still in the same condition and I was told Sandy had said she had done all she could do in trying to repair the mistake.  I submitted my “complaint form” as well as a printout of the same dress and scarf, different color since my color is no longer available, with pricing to be reimbursed for the dress and scarf and my dry cleaning receipt.  As of today, September 29th, I have yet to hear from Sandy or someone authorized to make decisions in regards to damaged clothing items.  I went into the store and got my dress and scarf and sadly told Ms Delores and Mary I was disappointed I had not heard from anyone and I would not be back.  My Dad started using Sandy’s Cleaners when they opened in 1998 so it was natural for my husband and I to use them as well when we moved back to Charleston in 2018.  Ms Delores, is wonderful and I have always built a good friendly relationship with the various employees they have had at the counter since I bring clothes to them multiple times throughout the month.  I can overlook the mistake of the dress as accidents happen.  What I can’t overlook is the fact that I have personally not heard from management as I was told I would  and there has been no attempt to be reimbursed for the dry cleaning that damaged the dress or the dress and scarf itself.  Maybe Sandy’s has expanded too much that they no longer will stand behind their work?  Quantity over quality.  Such a shame as they really had a good thing going.

Never answer their phone, or return  messages. Had garments to pick up for out of area trip on Saturday May 17. They were closed when we arrived at 10:45 AM. No message on door.

The service is getting worst and worst, and I don't think Sandy is reading her reviews.  I've met Sandy once and she was very nice, but I think she might be getting too many locations to focus on quality control.  Every time I pick-up a set of dry cleaning something is ALWAYS wrong.

We visited the store last Wednesday to have Delores take in the waist of a pair of suit pants of my husband’s for an upcoming wedding. He lost a bunch of weight due to a recent illness and they literally were falling off his waist. We requested having them completed by the following Saturday. Not much time but we were late in bringing them in. I know Delores is always so busy because she really is a professional and keeps quite busy. I’ve used her so many times and she always delivers and exceeds my expectations. She tailors the items to fit just right. To my surprise I received a text that his pants were ready on Monday (just 5 days after drop off). Well let me just say my husband’s pants are absolutely perfect and he couldn’t be more pleased. His suit fits him just right and we are so thankful. I just wanted to write a review in hopes that Delores will receive some recognition for the hard working, professional seamstress that she is. Thank you from some very satisfied repeat customers.

Kings Valet Dry Cleaners

Ruined a $900 dress. I came to pick it up and the white silk collar was pink. The woman handed it to me through the window and when my jaw dropped she said “oh, yeah.” And just kind of sighed. I could not believe it. Like, she was not even going to address that they ruined the dress? Someone else walked over and told me that the dye must have bled on the collar, then said she had to “go on her lunch break”. They did not offer me a refund and told me i need to container the retailer (Revolve) about using “cheap dye”. I am devastated and still in shock. Never in my life have i experienced such horrible service. Oh, and this was NOT my first bad experience here. Just the first time having my clothes ruined.  Do yourself a favor and do not go here. It’s not worth the risk.

I can't believe anyone thinks this establishment does quality work. I have also traveled the world and this dry cleaners is TERRIBLE!  I have given them multiple chances to correct their basic poor quality: burned collars and pants, misaligned pressing, faint blue stains on all my white dress shirts, and the straw that broke the camels back, train tracks on my Brooks Brothers suits.  What's more, they always find an excuse for why the issue is not their fault.  Although Kings valet has been my dry cleaners for years, it wasn't their fault all my white shirts have faint blue stains, or my premium dress shirts were pressed incorrectly, or my suit pants are burnt and have train tracks. It's always someone else who did it. Well I have had enough. Although their location is very convenient for me, I have promised myself I will never go there ever again. No more chances.  Do yourself a favor,  cut them off on their first mistake and always check your clothing before you take it home.

These people have some serious problems and have totally lost their minds! Took ONE cotton shirt there this morning, it's going to take them almost 5 days to clean it, and to add insult to injury, they refused to launder it and insisted that it had to be dry cleaned at a ridiculous cost of $10, when it used to be less than $5! Furthermore, they have someone working the counter who barely speaks English. I've been coming here for my dry cleaning needs for many years now, and they have now lost my business for good; I don't support or do business with thieves! Called other Dry Cleaners in the area, all of them with much, much better reviews, and they only charge $5.00 to Dry Clean the same shirt.

I was traveling and realized something was splattered on my travel jacket the morning of my flight. I called and they were able to get my item in that morning and have it ready by 3:30. Everyone was kind and helpful and when I showed up that afternoon to pick up my jacket, it was ready and very clean! They weren't sure they'd be able to get the stains out, but the jacket looked brand new! Very happy and will use King Valet Dry Cleaners whenever I'm in town!

This is a VERY unprofessional place of business. I’d like to say that we have used a variety of dry cleaning businesses and this is by far the worst service we have ever received. Not only were the cleanliness of my husband’s shirts and ties subpar, but the unprofessionalism when attempting to address and rectify the issue was ridiculous. We wanted to speak with the manager, rightfully so, and were redirected multiple times with NO resolution and sense of accountability. The clothes were in worse condition than when we dropped them off.. there is now a new, rust-like residual stain on his clothes. The quality of their 24-hour dry cleaning is similar to throwing your clothes in a broken washer machine/dryer at home.. so save your $90+. Not to mention, the staff were argumentative and rude with no regard to customer satisfaction.

I DO NOT recommend this place of business.

AVOID THIS PLACE. They ruined a $200 pair of dress pants, instead of dry cleaning, I believe they washed and dried this pair of pants in a traditional dryer because the fabric was dried out and had a burnt texture and the pants shrunk.

Honestly never been this disappointed in a business before. Dropped off a wedding gift $500 decorative blanket from my mom and dad on Jan 14th. Never received any calls until I started persisting 7 weeks later. They LOST the blanket. The customer service was even worse. They offered me FAR like embarrassing lower amount for the lost item and she said “are you happy with this” I said “honestly I am not” She explained well blankets only last 5 years and you said you bought it in 2022 so that’s what we’re giving you. So disappointed having to call my mom and dad to explain. I should have read more reviews because sounds like once management changed this place has gone way down hill . Awful, I encourage people to go else where.

This business discriminates on the basis of sexual orientation at one of their locations. If you have a problem with anything and call the owner, she will not take your call and will not call you back. This is a huge red flag IMO.

Had a great experience with this dry cleaners. Local and convenient. It was my first time using them and I will certainly be back. It was an easy process, took a few days but I didn't need the clothes back right away. I received a text when they were ready and paid online. Simply just pulled up and she put the clothes in the car! Very happy with the service.

Dropped off a shirt, $14 to clean it. I had to re wash it as soon as I got home because it was wrinkly and stinky.  I gave it one star because the girl that worked there was very friendly.

I had tough stains on a beautiful dress I wore to a wedding, and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and welcoming. They assured me they’d do their best, and they absolutely delivered—the dress looks brand new! They also dry cleaned two of my other dresses in under two days. I’ll definitely be a repeat customer and recommend them to all my friends!

I brought in a few items for cleaning, including a set of nice bedsheets and several designer button-down shirts. When I picked them up, I was shocked — the sheets were discolored, badly wrinkled, and even ripped. Two of the shirts had visible damage around the buttons and collars. These weren’t cheap items, and the lack of care was obvious.

When I asked about it, the owners, Patrick and Mary, showed no concern or accountability. They even tried to claim the sheets “came in like that,” which was absolutely not the case. Rather than offering to make things right, they brushed it off and acted like it wasn’t their problem.

This place has zero respect for their customers or their belongings. I wouldn’t trust them with a single item again.

Brought some military uniforms here to be cleaned and ironed. When I went home, the white uniforms had stains and improper ironing lines (“train tracks”) that weren’t there when I dropped them off. The manager then said they’d redo them for me. So I take them back and bring some other uniforms. These additional uniforms also weren’t ironed correctly. To be honest, I love the convenience of this place, but I would not trust them with your uniforms.

This place is a complete disaster. Not only were my clothes mishandled and returned in worse condition than when I brought them in, but the owners, Patrick and Mary, refused to take any accountability for what happened. They were rude, dismissive, and completely uninterested in making things right.

When a business has people’s belongings in their possession, the least they can do is show some respect and responsibility — but that’s clearly not how Patrick and Mary operate. The whole experience was stressful, unprofessional, and downright infuriating.

There are plenty of dry cleaners who actually care about their customers. Save yourself the headache and stay far away from this one.

This place is a perfect example of the business model that is simply relying on lack of competition in a neighborhood - they are MASSIVELY overpriced, especially considering they do an average-at-best job on shirts and an awful job on suits or sport coats; oh, and they have absolutely no weekend hours, which is insane because in order to pay the absurd prices, most people are probably at work during the weekdays.

Honestly worst experience ever. I dropped my husbands shirt off two nights ago. The two girls who helped me were EXTREMELY rude. They acted like I was a nuisance for wanting to use this business. I dropped off one shirt to see how the service was because I have a ton of items I want to get cleaned but want to ensure they do good work first. Secondly I came to pick up his shirt tonight. The website says they close at 7pm. Well I was there at 6:30p and it’s completely dark, not a soul here. I guess when you let 16 year olds run a store you will get unprofessionalism and they won’t uphold business hours. This was my first time using Coastal Cleaners and I am disappointed. I won’t be using their services any longer and I will never recommend to any of my friends or family. Hopefully I will still be able to pick up my items whenever they do decide to come around.

The Laundry Spot

First time here as I am searching for a regular place to wash clothes for the next few months. This isn’t it.  It’s clean and not in a bad location, but lots of their machines are out of order so if it’s even a little busy you’ll be waiting.  Of the few machines working there were a few that just had laundry sitting in them so clearly people don’t care that other do wash here too.  I’ll finish what I started today and then the search for a good place continues.

Very welcoming, nice establishment! The machines work very well. The people are so kind! Very kind woman showed me how everything worked, and even put in some quarters for me in the dryer, very sweet lady. First time here went wonderful, and if I ever need to come back I will for sure.

This place is great! Folks are so friendly. It's clean, lots of washers/dryers, and a restroom. Seems strange time mention but some laundromat DO NOT have bathrooms. This one does. It's clean as well. Dryers are 25cents for 5 minutes. Great place! I highly recommend!

“The Laundry Spot” hands down the best laundry spot in town. With Pricing that’s second to none, and the fact they are 24/7! This has became the wife’s and I “go to spot” we have no problem taking the 14 min drive all while passing 4 other laundromats to boot. The clean, nice, cheap and best service in town has two FOREVER CUSTOMERS! Definitely recommend using them. Usually 9pm to 2am there’s virtually no one else. So doing 4 to 7 loads, your in and out QUICK

I went last night around 10:30pm, not very crowded, got in and out in under an hour and a half. They have an ATM, change machine but also the ability to scan and pay right on your phone. $7.50 per wash and .25 cent for 4 minutes to dry. (2.50$ dried everything for me) clean facility!

Don’t come here at all. First they almost gave me somebody else’s clothes and it’s by name. If you do take a picture of your stuff before you drop it off. I dropped off my brand new skirt with no stains and wanted it to be dry cleaned. Picked it up with two big stains on my new skirt. And my other top which is white and black still looks dingy. They said they put tape or let us know that there’s a spot or there’s stuff that you can’t get out but that’s crazy that it looks dirtier when I get it then when I turned it in. Don’t come here. PLEASE warning please don’t come to this place there’s a reason for their score. I will never come here again, and I’m not even sure why my hubby dropped him off here. They probably will say it’s a lie. (Never had an issue anywhere else and they’re lying about stains that was not there prior to turning this new garment in. I just wanted it dry cleaned to get the smell out and get it back looking dingy and has marks on both my items (the poka dot is not as bad but can definitely tell this is not a good cleaners) But these ppl are not a good company. JUST READ THRU PREVIOUS REVIEWS TOO. They have nothing on video when bc I asked for pictures or video when was there to pick up. She stated, they just tell u they can’t get out stains but husband states she lied about the tape and I know I don’t wear clothes that look like this with brown stains on a new garment. What kind of ghetto trash is this place..

Needed a suit cleaned quickly for a funeral and Waters Cleaners was able to help me out, would recommend!

I dropped two dresses off for an upcoming event to be dry cleaned. Unfortunately, I missed the pick-up time and realized it on a weekend day when the business is typically closed. I left a message and thankfully the owner reached out and agreed to meet me during off-hours so could pick up the outfits in time for my flight and before the event. I appreciate them being understanding of my mistake and the dresses looked great!

The first time they gave my white shirt a nice stain. Tried to fix it on the spot but it didn't work. Luckily they were able to get the vast majority out by the next day. Next time, they forgot to give me my slacks even though the tag was on the hanger. Check their work make sure all of your items are there before you leave.

Helped me out in a pinch. Good quality work, reasonable prices. Even got the coffee spot off my shirt.

Usually I have no problem here. The older gentleman who is there at night is ok but he has his days where he closes down the laundry facility early before 11pm when I’ve came in at 9:30pm to dry clothes he says he is closing bc his ride is coming at 10:30pm( Not the first time this has happened btw). Mind you they close at 11 pm per the sign on the door that’s been posted. I’ve been coming here for a year this man has been doing this. He also closes one of the other sliding doors early so customers are always having to walk the opposite side. He does it on purpose. I ask him about policy that day I was waiting on my clothes to get dried he claimed he closes and opens the store when he wants so I ask him if he has a policy bc why tell a customer you don’t have standard operating hours you follow and then what are the hours then? He said have a good night so I told him y’all need to update the signage that’s not my problem as a customer if it says you closed at 11pm then ok and all the other  locations says 11pm as well.
So what’s going on here.he is the only one that does this the other workers don’t and they close at 11pm. Unlike the older gentleman who does this. From the looks of the prior reviews this has been a on going problem and it hasn’t been handled the owner just apologizes and the man is still

This man is very rude the doors was locked at 8 PM on September 5 and the machine are 10 dollars and it doesn’t gain soap and I pored 2 bottles in my machine and it’s only water spining my clothes I will never come here again and when I was watching my clothes to see why it wasn’t getting soapy the man told me why am I standing there watching my clothes and I told him the machine wasnt gaining soap and he said let me see ur soap it’s because of the soap u got I use this soap at every other place and tht never happen before it’s just ur machines are broken then he took somebody’s soap and try to put some more soap in my machine with somebody else soap tht was in his basket by his clothes this old man is rude and I will keep reporting him stop locking the doors before 9:30 last wash FIRE him he has no business skills at all no people skills

I WILL NEVER COME BACK HERE!!! There is an elderly guy who likes to close early when the closing time is 11:00 pm. I had one load to wash and dry. Apparently, the last wash is at 9:30 pm and the last dry is at 10:00/10:30 pm. I wasn’t aware. I arrived at 9:40 pm. Since I only had one load, I would have been done before 11:00 pm. I get that there’s rules, but there is a certain way to speak to customers. This elderly manager has zero people skills.

I didn’t know he was a manager at first. I thought he was a customer. As I’m trying to take one of the bins outside to load my clothes, he is following me, yelling and screaming. Again, I didn’t know he was a manager at this point. Then, I asked him, and he finally said yes. He could have introduced himself and explained the rules politely.

The rules aren’t the problem, it’s the way he treats and talks to customers. He doesn’t have the patience to work at this laundromat. He is extremely rude and didn’t answer my question when I asked him what time the laundromat closed. He has zero people skills and talks to customers any kind of way. There has to be someone better to manage this laundromat. Please hire someone else for the job, IMMEDIATELY!!!

Convenient  large facility,efficient inexpensive machines. It only Cost me $4.50 to dry a x2 loads of laundry. Relaxed family friendly environment.. definitely will be returning

Although I love doing my laundry here I hate having to fight with the HappyNest workers.  The HappyNest people will come here and take up 5 or 6 washers then 5 or 6 dryers to wash and dry laundry.   I then have to compete to dry my one basket of laundry.  I understand the HappyNest people are trying to make money but it’s unfair to basically do commercial laundry service in this facility.

Tux shirt came back with creases everywhere. Mysterious yellow tint found in the cuffs. Brand new shirt not really sure how this happens at a dry cleaners. It was also crazy expensive.

This place is a joke. They charge $8.35 to dry clean a button down shirt: the national average is $2.00-$5.00.

Dropped off an extra large comforter back in April. We left for the summer and totally forgot to grab it before. I had figured it would be gone already, as it's October. Decided to call for the heck of it, and they still had it!! The comforter had seen better days before we dropped it off but looks brand new now!

I had a great experience at James Island Cleaners! I was impressed with their quality and service. When I visited them last, there was a rather difficult customer being very rude to one of their employees. However, I thought the employee managed the situation with grace, patience, and the best possible customer service considering the difficult situation. I admire the level of customer service here and will definitely be using them in the future!

If I could give zero stars I would. Incredible rude. I dropped off a bridesmaid dress to have it cleaned after only wearing it once. They quoted me over the phone $18 and it was $47 when I picked it up. They took each section of tulle and charged each of the pieces which were merely pieces to make it a convertible dress (tiny). Didn’t try to make it right and doubled down on the fact that this was an appropriate price for cleaning a dress. Don’t press your luck here they are sketchy and will find any way to up charge your bill.

$3.29 Cleaners

First of all, I take only my casual, not my quality items there. I took a pair of pants of some quality there. They were faded but not where I could not hide it. So I wore them because they matched an outfit. I subquently brought them in and showed the owner. He said his process could not have done same, to which I said I only have used your cleaners. He dismissed my concern. Today, I brought a pair of pants back in to add a crease. The person in charge used the ticket number attached, stating that because I brought them in outside of 30 days, there should be a charge. I challenged her stating that the pants had not been clearly worn, she said it was incumbent on me to ask for the crease. It took then less than 3 minutes to add the crease. Fortunately I was not charged this time. In the past, before the current staff, I was routinely asked if I wanted a crease. Now, she says it's on me to ask. Because of pricing,  they can afford to lose customers;  customer services is very poor. The notion that the customer is always right is a joke.

These folks do a great job cheaper than everywhere else. They are also very nice and accommodating, as they come out to my handicapped mom's car to get her items from her and also return the items to her when they're finished. We love this place!

I tried to give this place a chance. Multiple chances, in fact - I've been using them about twice a month for the last year. The staff are nice, and the price is good; but I guess you get what you pay for. Multiple times I've had to have them redo items - which they gladly do, but I shouldn't have to take a shirt multiple times to get it cleaned. There have been two instances as well where they've permanently messed up an item of clothing - once they used too much heat on a suit jacket they caused a bubbling effect, and another shirt they imprinted a colored pattern on a previously white shirt. They will claim they'll try to make it right, but both times all they offer is $50; I don't bring normal tshirts here, I bring my nice dress clothes for dry cleaning, and you can't replace anything for that price. So disappointing that quality (read: decent) dry cleaning doesn't exist in West Ashley.

Horrible customer service. My husband dropped his suit and dress pants off here and they were returned as if they hadn’t even been dry cleaned and his pants were ripped. “The owner” said they couldn’t fix the pants and they wouldn’t give a refund for the service. You also cannot speak with “the owner” or get their name from staff. What a weird and terrible business.

This place lost my suit within 4 days. I had a wedding I needed the suit for, they didn’t find it in time so I had to buy a new suit. My other suits are huge on me as I lost 40lbs. They told me if they couldn’t find it they would offer me $50 or store credit. One of the managers (skinny lady with missing teeth) threatened to call the police on me for waiting 40 mins for them to find my suit. If your items are worth more than $50 go any where else.

Very expinsive washer 8.oo amd dryer clothes is 4 min a quarter for an outdated laundromat not worth it. Very dark area and scared to park

I used this place to wash linens off a boat at a near by yacht club and heres my take on it: kinda run down, machines are old. the prices are very high.  all the other area stores run MUCH better outfits and they charge less.  not to mention some lady was taking my comforter out the wash as I was walking back in to put it in the dry. asked her what she was doing with my comforter and she said she thought it was hers even though she only had one washer with clothes only in it. KEEP an eye on your stuff.

First and last visit. Went late night when I couldn't sleep. Needed to wash a comforter. Gross. Floor covered in trash. Dryer sheets, hair balls,etc. Had to step over vomit in parking lot. At least 3 homeless people camping out. Half of the machines out of order. Wet towels against many machines soaking up leaks . Really dont feel like I cleaned anything....

Prices are very reasonable, the attendant is very nice and helpful. I definitely recommend it. I've been at MUSC for over a week, 2 hrs from home and it's not too far from the hospital.

Always a nice clean and quiet place to wash a comforter or other load of clothes too big for my washer. Their prices are a bit high, but this place has been an Avondale institution since I can remember. Their sign is amazing too.

Went in at 8:10 and was told same day is not available, would have to call them to have statement removed from website   I had 2 pieces, one was press only. Staff did not know what pressing service costs.

Clothes are never clean. Drop off and pickup are never consistent. Brought me someone else's clothes and let them sit on my porch for 4 days. Still haven't brought mine back. Collars never get cleaned. They don't give you an invoice they just charge your credit card at the end of the month, so who knows who's clothes I've paid to get cleaned since they bring the wrong ones. Worst dry cleaner I've ever dealt with across multiple states and multiple places within Charleston. It's almost unbelievable, like it's a prank show. Notnsure what to wear Monday morning now...

Worst dry cleaner in Charleston. They lost my clothes and their attitude about the whole situation was..."hey I only work here...I can't do anything to help you".....really?

After 3 weeks of back and forth and telling me they would call me when the clothes arrived, they never followed through.....and when I would call they would act like it was the first time we had ever spoken...so strange it was like nobody there knew what in the world was going on....they send all the dry cleaning off sight and I swear this establishment is so dysfunctional and discombobulated....I am never going back.   And on top of it all there was never a sorry...nothing...just hey I only work here.   Sandy needs a whole new crew at the Mathis Ferry location.    Find anywhere else but here to take your clothes....disappointed at the lack of customer service and follow through.  They do not care about their customers at all.  Plus the charge way yo much for cleaning!

Dropped off 4 shirts and 4 pants Wednesday evening, picked up on Friday. Total cost $65, seems a little on the high side but everything was done as expected without issues. No surprises, exactly what I look for in a dry cleaner. I’ll use them again.

I was a new customer and they lost a shirt of mine. Asked me how much i paid for it, did nothing with this informationn, but told me if they couldn't find it i could come back for a claim. I found this to be unprofessional and not the best way to handle business.  I STILL paid for the dry cleaning of the lost item i might add. They never  called me to tell me they have it i guess it's my responsibility? I also went yesterday at 3pm to buy a mask but they were not open even though the hours clearly state they are open until 4pm on Saturdays. I don't know if i just have bad luck with them but i won't be returning .

The College Laundry

This laundromat is extremely old and dirty. Half of the machines are out of order or have broken knobs. There is one row of newer machines but they cost $1.00 more to use. Most laundromat now have machines have the ability to take credit cards but this just has an old change machine. I wouldn’t advise using the restroom unless you’re in desperate need.

I love this place. I've never liked how other places wash and fold and only use it when I need to. The ladies who wash and fold my clothes here do everything how I want it. They fold it how I want, don't use hangers like I asked, and don't fold our underwear. My only complaint would be for our first time, when you call and on the website they say $1.25/lb for first timers. When I got there she said she was going to charge me $1.70/lb and I told her since it's our first time and the discount that was online and on the phone said $1.25. She said "ok I'll do 1.25" and then pointed and showed me $1.50. After how I got my clothes back though, I was ok with the price they charge. They say 24 hour turn around but it's always been ready same day.

This place was fine. They have an atm and a coin machine which is nice. One of the washing machines I paid for was broken. The worker gave me replacement quarters to start the load in another machine, but there was no way to stop the cycle and unlock the machine. So I had to wait 23 minutes for the machine to finish its cycle just to start all over again in a different washer. 🙄 When I asked if I could get some laundry detergent to run the do-over wash (since I had used all of mine), I was told no. The worker told me I had to buy my own. Granted it was only $1.25 for the detergent at the dispenser. Poor customer service.

This laundry mat is pretty good. it costs $2.50 per load it’s in a good location and it’s kinda safe. Except there’s one minus I noticed... there’s a padlock on the outside of the ladies room door!? Probably not intentional but if you were using it on a bad day you could possibly get locked in it. So be careful when you go in, make sure you check for it and carry the lock inside with you. But I’ll probably be back to wash again.😊

So awesome. Used the pickup and deliver service with wash and fold. They put a rush on it for me. Customer service was amazing. Uber drivers were both great. Could not recommend more if you are staying in the area and need a laundry service!

Sea Island Coin Laundry

All detergent trays have a significant buildup, and I found one with leftover bleach that hadn't been dispensed into the system. I'm uncertain if this is someone intentionally trying to ruin others' clothes. All the cameras are broken, falling off the wall, or appear decoy ones. The trash can by the door is always full, and the parking lot is littered with trash. It’s very drab and dirty. The only reason I’m writing this is for the owner to do some minor upgrades and major cleaning/ install soap and towels. I’ll take down if this is done. Install a cheap camera system.

I agree with the other comments about the machines in good working order, but what I think happens with the soap ,paper towels and toilet paper is alot of homeless people use the bathrooms for long periods of time, to do what I have no idea but they are all a mess when they leave . That's not the fault of the owners. My complaint is people putting there wash in the dryers, using multiple ones and leaving, then there clothes are done, and I have waited over a 1/2 hour for them to come back , there are signs around saying that laundry left unintended can be removed so others can use the dryers. Over the last month or so I have to wait for them to become available which isn't fair. The time I did move the clothes I felt threatened by the girl getting in my face and yelling at me, I am 70 years old and she said I was rude well she acted intitled and very overly aggressive for it being just laundry. I told her she needed to be on time then. Please owners could you make it clearer what the rules are as it's getting worse.

This laundromat was the terrible!  Very, very, very dirty.  Soap dispensers had mold on the lids and smells inside the machines.  No care is given to this laundromat.  Go somewhere else if you can.  One star is being generous.

STAY AWAY from this laundromat.  I went here a few days ago to do my laundry.  After loading two washers a homeless man came through the side door talking to himself.  This man went into the restroom left the door open and started washing in the sink!  No one was there but me and him.  The change machines did not work so there was no way to get money to wash my clothes.  Sitting in my car I watching this homeless man walk around inside hoping he would leave I HAD to go get my clothes.  I went back inside almost in a panic because I know this is how people get killed.  I backed my car up to the door, threw my clothes into the basket as I was doing that the homeless man went out the front door waving his arms and talking like a mad person!  I threw my stuff into my car and left!  Not safe, no change machine, no staff present. I do NOT recommend this place at all!
To the response from the owner...how can you run a perfectly safe laundry when there is no staff inside the place.  How is that safe?  Your response says it all.  You don't know what you are talking about because you are never there. Good luck!  Don't be mad because I am telling the truth about your business.  That's what google review is for.
