Have been going to opal alterations for years. They provide great service and spot on alterations for especially for specific requirements.
Required an invisible zip into the right leg on several pairs of pants, professional or casual wear. Zip blends in and can hardly see it, does what it's supposed to. Have more to bring in for the same process.

Provide touch ups and repairs in a quick turnaround and have an after hours pick up service from the front of the store.

Haven't had a fault yet and not over priced. I do recommend and I will be returning.

They also have a loyalty program available.

The workers were so lovely when altering my linen pants and did a great job. I got the length taken up a fair amount and wished to shorten the crotch as well, however this would require the waist to be shortened as well and would end up costing $80… it seems extremely expensive and I understand inflation and wages rising but that’s ridiculous. Otherwise, great service and really friendly but did end up costing $30 for the length taken up 2 inches….

Engaged Alex on 13/12 to perform carpet cleaning and oven cleaning.

The carpet cleaning was fine, but he only cleaned the sides, bottom, racks of the oven (not the roof and the door) and managed to scratch the finish while doing so.

I was originally quoted $50 for carpet cleaning of a single bedroom and $100 for the oven. He also told me his original quote was “excluding GST” as he was writing up my invoice so I was pretty surprised as I’ve never been quoted on anything which wasn’t the total amount payable. Additionally the extra amount wasn’t 10% of the GST exclusive amount and the total charged ended up being $170.

When trying to discuss the standard of the oven cleaning and mentioning the damage (right before having to hand back our rental as well), Alex was rude when I proposed a partial payment for the oven cleaning. The reason for a partial payment was because I had to go and clean between the panes of the oven door and clean the roof of the oven myself after he’d left.

He messaged me (and this is copy and pasted):

I have no time to read this.
The minimum charge is 150$
Just the carpet cost 150$
Just pay 150$

I have no idea how there are so many 5-star reviews but I gather it’s because they’re more to do with carpet and upholstery cleaning. My experience with the carpet cleaning was good, but the oven cleaning was shocking.

Photos are of the damage, the dirty roof of the oven, the glass door of the oven and finally what I wiped off the roof of the oven after Alex left (just with water and paper towels).

Update after reply by the business below (18/12): I have paid Alex in full for the carpet cleaning component. We also agreed that a payment of half the amount for the oven cleaning would be appropriate due to the poor quality of the job. I have also explained to Alex via text message that I am discussing with the real estate agent whether any deduction from our bond will be occurring for the damage on the oven handle that he caused. I will be in a position to make the half payment once the final inspection of our rental is finalised and any costs I incur from Alex’s work can be determined. I don’t see how it was a “free job” for me considering I am still intending on making the partial payment. Dropped down to one star as the business is intent on continuing being rude, accusing me of blocking their Facebook page while I am continuing dialogue and insisting on payment via text message on an almost daily basis.

We have approached them for a commercial clean for my restaurant and They have done a terrible job Alex who is here to do job was soo rude and shame on him for not doing his job properly I have paid $1600 for the job but nothing has been done properly it was same as before I had to go buy a Gerni in Bunnings and do myself

And on top Alex was rude

I would suggest people not to engage with them as they do a terrible job, you can approach if you just want to get ripped off

Thought we were going to replace the carpet in our rental.    Alex turned up on time in a very clean good looking vehicle. Professional well priced. Would highly recommend.  Great job.   Very happy.

Really disappointed. No integrity. The actual fee is higher than the quoted price, and Alex reverses his deal. Extra fee changed from the equipment rental fee to the surcharge, but this fee has been waived at the beginning of the deal.

Went in desperate for a last minute alteration for the straps on my dress to be altered (tightened) for a black tie wedding the next day! Deborah was amazing. She had my dress done within a few hours! So appreciative of the quick and helpful work!

I took a knitted sweater to this dry cleaner and it came back completely misshapen, especially around the waistband. They never contacted me about the issue — I had to follow up myself. When I went in, they immediately denied any responsibility and claimed it was the fault of the garment, not their cleaning process.

They were dismissive, unprofessional, and showed zero accountability. A friend of mine also had a bad experience here, so it seems like this isn’t an isolated case.

Honestly, I wouldn’t trust them with any of your clothes. Definitely wouldn’t go back.

Very clean. Bit expensive ($19 large) but plenty of machines and a Pet linen option.
Decent location with coffee next door. I would suggest more seating inside though

July 2024 prices: $19 for large load $15 for medium and $11 for small one. Its my first time coming here but machines were all full but one of them. Detergent has almost NO odor after the wash, and it didnt bubble much which is why another reviewer claimed "it didnt wash properly" but it did an OK job. I think it definitely needs more detergent.

3 stars because there are cheaper alternatives, better detergent using ones and parking here is not free/ convenient. Otherwise I dont dislike it.

Customer service was great quick response, helpful and knowledgeable, only know that because I found the nayax payment systems almost useless , I've tried using them before with car washes and massage chairs, this is the only time they have ever worked and that was after 2 dozen failed card taps and then seemingly being double charged after that, owners please consider taking a different payment method.
Other than that, shop has mutiple sizes of washers and dryers, was clean and had vending machines, the Cafe out the front is good while you wait.

I do have a washer/dryer at home, but it wasn't large enough to handle our big comforters. The  machine here handled the load well. The location is very clean, and the machines are in excellent shape, with a selection of load sizes.  I will definitely be back!

I was guided incorrectly by the man who came to clean. On his advice I paid twice extra (2 X $14) ie wrong drying, machine identified by him (and me).
He promised me an immediate refund and sent a text to the owner (supposedly).
The refund did not come immediately as he said. he then said "wait 24 hours".
Guess what. that was over a week ago.
Be very careful, it is expensive enough without paying $28 extra for a load.

This matter has now been resolved by the owner.

The owner's (Chris McGann "we are good people") response is not accurate nor is his invitation to return going to happen.
We have found another service provider where the business owner is visible, accountable and tells the truth.

I brought in 5 jackets for dry cleaning service. 3 of them came back damaged and 2 of them seemed to be looked after and were okay (still not 100% back to their original condition). But one of them was damaged badly. I brought it back to the store and they said ‘we will replace the damaged leather strip’. Everytime I followed up, I was told ‘it was taken to the Dickson store for fixing up but the owner is not in the town so we need to wait until the owner comes back’. After about 5wks, finally got a call that the jacket is ready to be picked up. When I picked it up, I was returned with the damaged jacket not being looked after but with a letter writing that it is the manufacturer's fault and nothing can be done. The jacket was perfectly fine before it was dry cleaned. Didn’t even want to argue back after wasting my time.

I didn’t use to reply on google review before but it was lessons learned for me that should avoid any businesses with a multiple bad reviews.
