I’ve been going here for years. They dry clean my suits and nice clothes- I’ve never had an issue and they always met expectations. Staff is friendly too.

They truly are experts in their field, and their team has always done a good job with my dry cleaning over the many years I've done business with them. Great store! I’ve taken in a lot of garments here and usually I feel like everything is always right on time if not early! Ladies are always exceptionally nice there!

Friendly and courteous staff.  They did a great job on my son's JROTC uniform.

I brought a suit in to have it cleaned on Thursday and let them know that I needed it for Saturday morning. They said they'd have it to me Friday no problem. Apparently my suit code had a small separation in the seam. Probably an inch long. So it's their policy to not dry clean anything with a hole in it. They didn't let me know until pick up. If they let me know in the morning I could have taken it anywhere or even repaired the tiny hole. Now I have no suit for my function Saturday morning. Thanks a million.  Plenty of apologizing but their process is garbage.  They had my telephone number and my email address. They could have easily let me know in the morning when they found it.  Never again.

Rips Cleaners on Main Street is one of the most vile, hateful, and unprofessional establishments I’ve ever encountered. This place is NOT an inclusive business — it’s a toxic, disgusting environment that thrives on harassing and mocking customers instead of treating people with basic respect.

In particular, the individual who identified herself as the manager — a blonde woman dressed in all black, wearing black glasses — was the one who initiated the harassment. Instead of handling her role with professionalism, she chose to belittle, mock, and demean a paying customer. When confronted, she attempted to hide behind law enforcement, despite being the aggressor in the situation.

The business itself mirrors the attitude of its staff: run-down, unpleasant, and completely devoid of accountability. The name “Rips” couldn’t be more fitting, because this business is dead on arrival.

Save yourself the trouble — there are plenty of reputable cleaners in town that actually respect and value their customers. Rips Cleaners is not one of them. Harassment, hostility, and hateful behavior are the only services they seem capable of providing.

Final verdict: Rips Cleaners should RIP — Rest In Permanent failure.

In response to the owner’s attempt at “damage control”: the statement only confirms everything wrong with this establishment. By dismissing me as a “non-customer,” they revealed that basic respect only applies if you’re handing them money — an admission of exclusion, not professionalism. Their claim of “unprovoked harassment” is pure projection; it’s a guilty party flipping the script to mask their own conduct. Even more disturbing is their attempt to frame me “refusing to vacate” when I was standing on a public sidewalk waiting for an Uber. That is not trespassing — that is overreach and hostility. Closing their response with “we remain dedicated to serving all members of our community” is the most hollow, performative mask imaginable. They had the chance to own their actions, or even extend a basic apology, but instead rushed out a defensive manifesto within two hours — a panicked, corporate word salad that only highlights their guilt. Instead of building trust, their response proves the point: Rips Cleaners is not a safe or inclusive business.

Update 7/20/25
I had my staff go to the client home to assure the suits were not present. (3rd set of eyes) Upon seeing the suits were not present,  she called the cleaners and the staff told her that they told me yesterday, I could come get the suits. Upon her going to their establishment the suits were brought from the back of the store.  No apologies were rendered for the rudeness from the owner Lanie nor the an apology for the disrespect and distress caused to my client a disabled senior citizen. We are thankful Lanie and her staff returned the suits that they stole, however she shouldn't have had to be threatened with an attorney to do what is right.

7/19/25 The owner Lanie is unprofessional and has no customer service. She over talked my disabled client who has been a loyal customer for 5 years. I attempted to assist him but her rudeness was absurd. They refused to take ownership of giving my client 2 suits that don't belong to him and took 2 of his custom made suits. She refused to acknowledge that they made a mistake.  She stated that they don't make mistakes. Did I mention they hung up on me, resulting in me calling back. This is horrible to take away from the disabled and not own ownership. I informed Lanie that they would be contacted by an attorney since they refused to return the stolen custom made suits. She responded oh well. I  ended the call.

Horrible customer service. I’m not going to say anything too bad but just let it be known Rip’s on Main Street in Gainesville is just as bad as Rip’s in Palatka. Take your clothing to Crane’s or S and S. At least they treat you with respect and don’t make you feel like you’re an animal or like you HAVE to take your clothing to their locations. If you know you know. Just take your items to another company.

Okay, so I might be the exception. Took a black blazer with a light color sleeve lining. IT was really dirty. Dropped off Thursday and it was ready on Friday after 2 pm. Look fabulous and the sleeve lining was super clean. I have used RIP'S b4 and never had a problem. Thank you for a good job on my blazer. I'm happy 😊

I’ve been here about 4 or 5 times now. My white dress work shirts have always came back looking good. This time I had my orange work polo dry cleaned too. My polo had a black stain across the back that was not there when I brought it in. I tried getting it out and not successful. I don’t understand 🤔I brought this in to be cleaned not have stains added to it. Don’t know if I’m coming back here. Not the first time this has happened.

Very disappointing. As I’m getting my husbands clothes ready for church in the morning and I pull this out of the dry cleaning bag to hang up I’m asking myself what exactly did I pay for? Clearly this wasn’t laundered. Wrinkles in the clothes and stains all over. Plus the lint. This is unacceptable to wear to church. Just unbelievable. I recommend searching elsewhere for a dry cleaner in Gainesville. There’s plenty to choose from, none of which have returned suits in this condition.

I have been a customer of rips cleaners for some years now. But in the last few months the service has declined. In august, I took a pair of white shorts to be cleaned and pressed. When I returned to pick them up they still had wrinkles in them almost worse than it was when I took them there. I complained and asked that they redo my shorts. When I returned to pick them up they were the exact same. I said then I would not be going back. Well, I made a liar out myself. I took 4 items to rips a few weeks ago. The lady at the register rang my clothing up incorrectly ($94), she said she corrected it and provided me a ticket of $32 and some change. I went in today and was told my dry cleaning was $43.36. I explained to the lady that my total was $32 when I drop my clothes off, however I had misplaced the receipt. She actually had a copy of the original ticket that showed $32 attached to her new ticket of $43.36 and told me that the lady forgot to ring up 1 of my items and redid a new ticket after I left. Not my problem! That extra item she forgot to ring up should have been on the house and I should have not been charged for it. Poor customer service. They will not have a 3rd time to disappoint me. I'm done.

We drive from High Springs about 22 miles to get our clothes done. We have been doing this for many years and just love the service and care that we have received. The turn around speed is just amazing. Their prices are very reasonable too.  We have had some trouble with keeping up with our tickets but not on their behalf. I certainly give them a very high rating.

The first time I had ever used this dry cleaner. I only had one small item to be cleaned. I had to wait till I was coming back into Gainesville as I live 20 miles away to pick up. The first time they didn't even spot the garment. They kept it to 'reclean'. I came back to pick up after 2 weeks (plenty of time to make it right). It wasn't there! I called the owner (Johnny) and he said it wasn't ready. (After 2 weeks?!!!) This was totally PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR to get back at me because he apparently didn't like it that he had to reclean it. He said it would be ready the next day. Good thing I waited a day because they deliver the garments at 4:30 in the afternoon. So I waited till the next day to pick up. When I went in the worker didn't even greet me and was completely rude. I should have followed the advice of the other bad reviews and avoided this like covid-19! They didn't charge me, but for the almost 120 miles I had to drive to finally get my item, they owe me. This outfit is completely ignorant, unprofessional, rude, and absolutely clueless of how they should treat customers. DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS!!!!

I've been using On the Spot for years. They do great work, my items are always ready as promised, and the people are very nice. What's not to like? Now, if only they had a location in Alachua. But you can't have everything.

In all seriousness, they truly are great. I recommend them highly.

Prices have gone up drastically since my last visit, $28 for 2 suit jackets with a minimum of 48 hour turnover time is just totally unacceptable. The suits themselves looked great, but if other businesses locally are offering better rates and quicker turn around time why bother coming here?

Reasonable pricing for the two jackets I had done but would have been nice to know about how much to expect when I dropped them off. Items were ready in 2 business days and looked very clean. One of the new front buttons I sewed on my suit got a little scuffed but I don’t think that’s really their fault. I figure it just happens sometimes in the washing process.

Terrible service. Dropped off wife's dress on a Monday was told that dress would be ready by Thursday. Went to pick it up but dress was not ready. Said they were working on a stain. Funny thing is that the dress was brand new and never worn. So what's the real reason?. Incompetence I guess. Will NEVER use them again even if it's free. Would pay 100 bucks for someone else to do the job as promised
