Don’t come here at all. First they almost gave me somebody else’s clothes and it’s by name. If you do take a picture of your stuff before you drop it off. I dropped off my brand new skirt with no stains and wanted it to be dry cleaned. Picked it up with two big stains on my new skirt. And my other top which is white and black still looks dingy. They said they put tape or let us know that there’s a spot or there’s stuff that you can’t get out but that’s crazy that it looks dirtier when I get it then when I turned it in. Don’t come here. PLEASE warning please don’t come to this place there’s a reason for their score. I will never come here again, and I’m not even sure why my hubby dropped him off here. They probably will say it’s a lie. (Never had an issue anywhere else and they’re lying about stains that was not there prior to turning this new garment in. I just wanted it dry cleaned to get the smell out and get it back looking dingy and has marks on both my items (the poka dot is not as bad but can definitely tell this is not a good cleaners) But these ppl are not a good company. I dropped two dresses off for an upcoming event to be dry cleaned. Unfortunately, I missed the pick-up time and realized it on a weekend day when the business is typically closed. I left a message and thankfully the owner reached out and agreed to meet me during off-hours so could pick up the outfits in time for my flight and before the event. I appreciate them being understanding of my mistake and the dresses looked great!

The first time they gave my white shirt a nice stain. Tried to fix it on the spot but it didn't work. Luckily they were able to get the vast majority out by the next day. Next time, they forgot to give me my slacks even though the tag was on the hanger. Check their work make sure all of your items are there before you leave.

Shirts were not remotely heavy starched.
Collars came back in terrible shape and pants now have two creases.

Sadly, I feel I must post about my experience with Sandy’s Cleaners as I have exhausted all means in trying to have my situation rectified without going public.  In July I brought a 100% silk crinkle dress and scarf to have dry cleaned.  When I went to pick it up I noticed it looked like the upper part of the dress had been pressed loosing the shape of the dress.  Looks like the person doing it realized this fabric was not supposed to have been pressed and stopped at the waist.  Ms Delores, their seamstress, was kind enough to say she would personally take the dress back to the factory and show them the problem.  The dress returned in the same manner in which I was told by Mary, the sales attendant, that she would have Sandy look at it.  When I went back to check on it, the dress was still in the same condition and I was told Sandy had said she had done all she could do in trying to repair the mistake.  I submitted my “complaint form” as well as a printout of the same dress and scarf, different color since my color is no longer available, with pricing to be reimbursed for the dress and scarf and my dry cleaning receipt.  As of today, September 29th, I have yet to hear from Sandy or someone authorized to make decisions in regards to damaged clothing items.  I went into the store and got my dress and scarf and sadly told Ms Delores and Mary I was disappointed I had not heard from anyone and I would not be back.  My Dad started using Sandy’s Cleaners when they opened in 1998 so it was natural for my husband and I to use them as well when we moved back to Charleston in 2018.  Ms Delores, is wonderful and I have always built a good friendly relationship with the various employees they have had at the counter since I bring clothes to them multiple times throughout the month.  I can overlook the mistake of the dress as accidents happen.  What I can’t overlook is the fact that I have personally not heard from management as I was told I would  and there has been no attempt to be reimbursed for the dry cleaning that damaged the dress or the dress and scarf itself.  Maybe Sandy’s has expanded too much that they no longer will stand behind their work?  Quantity over quality.  Such a shame as they really had a good thing going.

Never answer their phone, or return  messages. Had garments to pick up for out of area trip on Saturday May 17. They were closed when we arrived at 10:45 AM. No message on door.

The service is getting worst and worst, and I don't think Sandy is reading her reviews.  I've met Sandy once and she was very nice, but I think she might be getting too many locations to focus on quality control.  Every time I pick-up a set of dry cleaning something is ALWAYS wrong.

We visited the store last Wednesday to have Delores take in the waist of a pair of suit pants of my husband’s for an upcoming wedding. He lost a bunch of weight due to a recent illness and they literally were falling off his waist. We requested having them completed by the following Saturday. Not much time but we were late in bringing them in. I know Delores is always so busy because she really is a professional and keeps quite busy. I’ve used her so many times and she always delivers and exceeds my expectations. She tailors the items to fit just right. To my surprise I received a text that his pants were ready on Monday (just 5 days after drop off). Well let me just say my husband’s pants are absolutely perfect and he couldn’t be more pleased. His suit fits him just right and we are so thankful. I just wanted to write a review in hopes that Delores will receive some recognition for the hard working, professional seamstress that she is. First of all, I take only my casual, not my quality items there. I took a pair of pants of some quality there. They were faded but not where I could not hide it. So I wore them because they matched an outfit. I subquently brought them in and showed the owner. He said his process could not have done same, to which I said I only have used your cleaners. He dismissed my concern. Today, I brought a pair of pants back in to add a crease. The person in charge used the ticket number attached, stating that because I brought them in outside of 30 days, there should be a charge. I challenged her stating that the pants had not been clearly worn, she said it was incumbent on me to ask for the crease. It took then less than 3 minutes to add the crease. Fortunately I was not charged this time. In the past, before the current staff, I was routinely asked if I wanted a crease. Now, she says it's on me to ask. Because of pricing,  they can afford to lose customers;  customer services is very poor. The notion that the customer is always right is a joke.

These folks do a great job cheaper than everywhere else. They are also very nice and accommodating, as they come out to my handicapped mom's car to get her items from her and also return the items to her when they're finished. We love this place!

I tried to give this place a chance. Multiple chances, in fact - I've been using them about twice a month for the last year. The staff are nice, and the price is good; but I guess you get what you pay for. Multiple times I've had to have them redo items - which they gladly do, but I shouldn't have to take a shirt multiple times to get it cleaned. There have been two instances as well where they've permanently messed up an item of clothing - once they used too much heat on a suit jacket they caused a bubbling effect, and another shirt they imprinted a colored pattern on a previously white shirt. They will claim they'll try to make it right, but both times all they offer is $50; I don't bring normal tshirts here, I bring my nice dress clothes for dry cleaning, and you can't replace anything for that price. So disappointing that quality (read: decent) dry cleaning doesn't exist in West Ashley.

Horrible customer service. My husband dropped his suit and dress pants off here and they were returned as if they hadn’t even been dry cleaned and his pants were ripped. “The owner” said they couldn’t fix the pants and they wouldn’t give a refund for the service. You also cannot speak with “the owner” or get their name from staff. What a weird and terrible business.

This place lost my suit within 4 days. I had a wedding I needed the suit for, they didn’t find it in time so I had to buy a new suit. My other suits are huge on me as I lost 40lbs. They told me if they couldn’t find it they would offer me $50 or store credit. One of the managers (skinny lady with missing teeth) threatened to call the police on me for waiting 40 mins for them to find my suit. If your items are worth more than $50 go any where else.

I brought in a few items for cleaning, including a set of nice bedsheets and several designer button-down shirts. When I picked them up, I was shocked — the sheets were discolored, badly wrinkled, and even ripped. Two of the shirts had visible damage around the buttons and collars. These weren’t cheap items, and the lack of care was obvious.

When I asked about it, the owners, Patrick and Mary, showed no concern or accountability. They even tried to claim the sheets “came in like that,” which was absolutely not the case. Rather than offering to make things right, they brushed it off and acted like it wasn’t their problem.

This place has zero respect for their customers or their belongings. I wouldn’t trust them with a single item again.

Brought some military uniforms here to be cleaned and ironed. When I went home, the white uniforms had stains and improper ironing lines (“train tracks”) that weren’t there when I dropped them off. The manager then said they’d redo them for me. So I take them back and bring some other uniforms. These additional uniforms also weren’t ironed correctly. To be honest, I love the convenience of this place, but I would not trust them with your uniforms.

This place is a complete disaster. Not only were my clothes mishandled and returned in worse condition than when I brought them in, but the owners, Patrick and Mary, refused to take any accountability for what happened. They were rude, dismissive, and completely uninterested in making things right.

When a business has people’s belongings in their possession, the least they can do is show some respect and responsibility — but that’s clearly not how Patrick and Mary operate. The whole experience was stressful, unprofessional, and downright infuriating.

There are plenty of dry cleaners who actually care about their customers. Save yourself the headache and stay far away from this one.

This place is a perfect example of the business model that is simply relying on lack of competition in a neighborhood - they are MASSIVELY overpriced, especially considering they do an average-at-best job on shirts and an awful job on suits or sport coats; oh, and they have absolutely no weekend hours, which is insane because in order to pay the absurd prices, most people are probably at work during the weekdays.

Honestly worst experience ever. I dropped my husbands shirt off two nights ago. The two girls who helped me were EXTREMELY rude. They acted like I was a nuisance for wanting to use this business. I dropped off one shirt to see how the service was because I have a ton of items I want to get cleaned but want to ensure they do good work first. Secondly I came to pick up his shirt tonight. The website says they close at 7pm. Well I was there at 6:30p and it’s completely dark, not a soul here. I guess when you let 16 year olds run a store you will get unprofessionalism and they won’t uphold business hours. This was my first time using Coastal Cleaners and I am disappointed. I won’t be using their services any longer and I will never recommend to any of my friends or family. Hopefully I will still be able to pick up my items whenever they do decide to come around.

Ruined a $900 dress. I came to pick it up and the white silk collar was pink. The woman handed it to me through the window and when my jaw dropped she said “oh, yeah.” And just kind of sighed. I could not believe it. Like, she was not even going to address that they ruined the dress? Someone else walked over and told me that the dye must have bled on the collar, then said she had to “go on her lunch break”. They did not offer me a refund and told me i need to container the retailer (Revolve) about using “cheap dye”. I am devastated and still in shock. Never in my life have i experienced such horrible service. Oh, and this was NOT my first bad experience here. Just the first time having my clothes ruined.  Do yourself a favor and do not go here. It’s not worth the risk.

I can't believe anyone thinks this establishment does quality work. I have also traveled the world and this dry cleaners is TERRIBLE!  I have given them multiple chances to correct their basic poor quality: burned collars and pants, misaligned pressing, faint blue stains on all my white dress shirts, and the straw that broke the camels back, train tracks on my Brooks Brothers suits.  What's more, they always find an excuse for why the issue is not their fault.  Although Kings valet has been my dry cleaners for years, it wasn't their fault all my white shirts have faint blue stains, or my premium dress shirts were pressed incorrectly, or my suit pants are burnt and have train tracks. It's always someone else who did it. Well I have had enough. Although their location is very convenient for me, I have promised myself I will never go there ever again. No more chances.  Do yourself a favor,  cut them off on their first mistake and always check your clothing before you take it home.

These people have some serious problems and have totally lost their minds! Took ONE cotton shirt there this morning, it's going to take them almost 5 days to clean it, and to add insult to injury, they refused to launder it and insisted that it had to be dry cleaned at a ridiculous cost of $10, when it used to be less than $5! Furthermore, they have someone working the counter who barely speaks English. I've been coming here for my dry cleaning needs for many years now, and they have now lost my business for good; I don't support or do business with thieves! Called other Dry Cleaners in the area, all of them with much, much better reviews, and they only charge $5.00 to Dry Clean the same shirt.

I was traveling and realized something was splattered on my travel jacket the morning of my flight. I called and they were able to get my item in that morning and have it ready by 3:30. Everyone was kind and helpful and when I showed up that afternoon to pick up my jacket, it was ready and very clean! They weren't sure they'd be able to get the stains out, but the jacket looked brand new! Very happy and will use King Valet Dry Cleaners whenever I'm in town!

This is a VERY unprofessional place of business. I’d like to say that we have used a variety of dry cleaning businesses and this is by far the worst service we have ever received. Not only were the cleanliness of my husband’s shirts and ties subpar, but the unprofessionalism when attempting to address and rectify the issue was ridiculous. We wanted to speak with the manager, rightfully so, and were redirected multiple times with NO resolution and sense of accountability. The clothes were in worse condition than when we dropped them off.. there is now a new, rust-like residual stain on his clothes. The quality of their 24-hour dry cleaning is similar to throwing your clothes in a broken washer machine/dryer at home.. so save your $90+. Not to mention, the staff were argumentative and rude with no regard to customer satisfaction.

I would give zero stars if I could. Brought multiple suits to be cleaned, one charcoal and one blue. I think they charged me $70, which is insane. I come to discover 45 minutes before a wedding that they couldn’t use the minimal amount of care required to correctly match my suit jackets and pants when bagging them. If you want to spend an exorbitant amount of money for people who don’t care to mess up the one thing you’re relying on them to do correctly, then this is the perfect spot.

Brought in a silk dress with no stains or issues, picked it up and when I took the plastic off it is completely ruined. It looks like it got caught in a machine; the sleeves have little holes and wrinkles, every single pleat stitch around the bodice is pulled, there are oily looking stains all over the top half with color bleeding on the collar. Their number is disconnected and no one responds to email. Awful experience, do not go here

THE 'NO TRESPASSING' SIGN IN THE PARKING LOT IS SELECTIVELY ENFORCED BASED ON, APPARENTLY, THE DIRECTION THE WIND IS BLOWING. THE 109 RUTLEDGE AVE CONSTRUCTION WORKERS PARK THEIR VEHICLES AND STAGE MATERIALS IN THE PARKING LOT AT WILL DAILY WITHOUT BEING TOLD THAT THEY ARE TRESPASSING AND THEY ARE NOT GIVEN WARNINGS BY THE POLICE. EVERYONE WALKING UP AND DOWN RUTLEDGE AVE THROW TRASH AND POOP BAGS IN THE BINS WITHOUT RECEIVING WARNINGS. IF YOU OFFEND THE DRY CLEANING EMPLOYEE IN ANY SMALL WAY, SHE WILL CALL THE CHARLESTON POLICE AND YOU MAY END UP GETTING ARRESTED. SHE APPEARS *IMO* TO BE UNSTABLE AND UNHINGED. A CAUTION FLYER ABOUT A TREE IN DANGER OF FALLING DOWN ON 3 CARS, WITH NO INFLAMATORY LANGUAGE, PLACED ON HER WINDSHIELD WAS INTERPRETED AS VANDALISM AND RESULTED IN A POLICE RECORD BY AN OVERZEALOUS OFFICER WITH AN AGENDA. A POLICE CAR WAS PARKED NEAR THE DRY CLEANERS ON FRIDAY MORNING LYING IN WAIT FOR ME TO STEP ONE FOOT INTO THE PARKING LOT WHILE I DID YARD WORK ADJACENT TO THE PARKING LOT. YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK WHILE THERE IS REAL CRIME DOWNTOWN.
UPDATE: The employee of the dry cleaners has had me cited by the Charleston Police for 'trespass notice', with arrest to follow next time, for simply putting flyers on windshields of only THREE cars warning them of the tree danger: The owners' car, a tenant's car, and the employee's car. In no way was the employee singled out. The employee threatened me "stay away from my car" in front of Officer C. Batiz and I'm the one that gets cited.
I attempted to resolve my problem with the owner/manager but she will not return my messages. The employee that works at the Rutledge location is VERY selective in what she gets involved with in the immediate neighborhood when she should mind her own business with the neighbors and stay inside the business. The neighboring construction workers at 109 Rutledge park in the lot almost daily and often stage materials...she has no problem with them trespassing. If Bartlett Tree Experts need to access our property, she needs to get involved. She even comes outside and stands beside the owner of the bldg when the owner is shouting at the Bartlett Tree crew...leaving the business unattended. The discrimation by the employee is consistent and outrageous. Considering litigation against this employee, the owner of the dry cleaning business and the owners of the building. And I won't even get into the articles of clothing destroyed here. I can't believe there isn't a better dry cleaning business downtown given all of the expensive cars/affluent customers! This the worst dry cleaners that I have ever experienced.

Dropped off two pairs of trousers to wear to a work conference in Chicago. Just got to Chicago and took my pants out of my bag still in plastic from when I picked them up and they are covered in stains, front and back, both pairs. Unreal, guess I’m going to buy a new pair of trousers in the AM. Unacceptable, won’t be bringing my business back here.

I don’t normally leave reviews. I have been coming here for 5 years. The first 2.5 years were fine, but these last 2.5 years have been terrible. I have repeatedly had my buttons cut in half and shaved down or missing. What is really making me leave this review, was on the last pick up, not only did they shave the buttons, they removed one on both sleeves thinking I wouldn’t notice and sent it back. So in short please use caution and check your clothes and make sure you haven’t experienced the same thing I’m going through over and over. This has nothing to do with Nishika who works there as she is always kind, but more so the overall quality of the dry cleaning service. I have to request a manager to call me rather than them reaching out which also speaks volume to the quality of service here.
