I've had a past positive experience with Sand Dollar.  But the disaster in service I received this week is crushing.  I took a suede jacket, a suede dress, and a sequined top/miniskirt set.  Sand Dollar was running a suede cleaning special.  My mom picked up for me, so when I got home and took the plastic off I wanted to cry.  The collar has been totally ruined.  Whatever solution that was used totally bleached the dye, and the beautiful yellow color is faded.  You can see where the solution was just poured on the collar and has run down the jacket.  I called Mr. Thompson and told him I was upset.  He said, "Oh nothing could be done the solution reacted with the dye."  WHAT?  You are supposed to be a professional. HAVE YOU NOT HEARD OF SPOT CHECK?  This is totally unacceptable.  And I tried to continue with the other issues and he just cut me off.  He was totally unapologetic. He just kept cutting me off and said bring it back and we'll see what we can do. FOR WHAT? The damage is done and you've had your chance. I want my $70 back AT LEAST. My dress looks like it was put in a washing machine.  The nap of the suede is gone. And it's a crumpled mess. Why is it like this? The suede dress they cleaned last year was flat and nicely done(the reason I went back).  I can't prove it but the Sequin top/mini set looks as if they didn't even bother to clean, and just put on a hanger from how I dropped it off.  The stain, which is on the cotton section, is still there.  Sand Dollar totally failed at there motto, "Quality you can see. Service you can trust, and value you can depend on. Guaranteed."  It's printed on the laundry bag he gifted, which I consider as an admission of guilt and failure.  DON'T TRUST WITH YOUR SUEDE.

I love this dry cleaner. Years ago, I brought a camel-hair hat from Afghanistan in here. It had something weird really stuck on it, like wood glue or something, in big gobs. They cleaned it and it looks brand new. They do a great job with other items too. I wouldn’t say they’re complete perfectionists, but they are expert at removing stains and do a fine press. I will say that once, I forgot to take a stick of gum out of my pants, and that ended up melting and making a stain in some dress pants, and they couldn’t get it out, so that wasn’t good but it was also partly my fault for leaving the gum in my pocket. (Rip’s in Gainesville did eventually get the gum and the stain out, somehow.) They’re cash only, but even with the $3.50 ATM fee, the prices far surpass a place like Deluxe Cleaners that’s also nearby but more expensive, more rude, and with worse results and worse hours. Why I ever stopped coming here is beyond me.

I’ve been to a couple other laundromats in the neighborhood and I can tell you I won’t go anywhere but here. I both do my own laundry and have had things dry cleaned. I had my half leather, half cotton welding jacket cleaned here and it came back cleaner than when I got it. I brought a jacket to get dry cleaned and they fixed the ripped pocket for a couple bucks. besides that, Mr. Lee and his family are so kind! The owner and wife are very unprofessional!! Family members visited the Edgewood Ave Jacksonville Florida location back in September 2024. The cleaners messed up her dress, and it's now December.

The owner called her this morning after she spoke with his wife yesterday. He told her she had to pick up the damaged dress and never return to his store. He was very rude and disrespectful, so I gave him a call.

I advised him since he felt ok to disrespect a woman... I would gather my family and friends to picket that location respectfully.

He called the law and twisted my words. What he failed to realize is I was perfectly within my rights to do so. The officer called me, and after explaining the truth, his lies failed. Don't patronize any of their establishments.

Do NOT have your clothes altered here!!! I have been using their dry cleaning services without any problem so decided to have them hem a new pair of jeans. I specifically asked for an ORIGINAL hem and paid extra for this service. When I picked up my jeans, they were hemmed without the original hem. When I complained about this, the sales woman said that she could only give me $5 back unless she sends my jeans out (at least another week) since they contract with outside tailors to do alterations. Because I was afraid that I would possibly not get my jeans back, I declined and so wasted a ton of money for an alteration I didn’t ask for. Plus, they threw away my original hem so it’s not like I can take it elsewhere to be fixed. I feel like since they acknowledged the mistake they should take accountability and at least reimburse me for what I paid. Very unprofessional, will never return even for dry cleaning.

Paid $12 to get a blanket laundered. They returned it to me in the same condition as I had left it. It had been packed away and had a musty smell. I wanted it clean and they just gave it back to me unwashed. They took my money and only offered to dry clean it for $40. I suspect that employees just folded it and handed it back to me without actually ever washing it. Will take my business elsewhere as these guys are just skipping out on customers.

I’ve been a customer since it opened. Only recently has it become unreliable and infuriating. I’ve gone twice to pick up my order and have been told that my order wasn’t ready. The dry cleaners ruined a shirt and pair of pants. When I called the owner he told me “his machines don’t cause stains” they don’t do refunds and I can go get a lawyer…then hung up on me. I have never experienced such low level customer service and disrespect. Do not go here!!!

I went in on 11/28 and asked if they cleaned UGG boots. The man behind the counter said yes. So I went home, and later returned with my two pairs of classic suede boots. Paid 60$ and returned a week later. 1) When he went to get my boots I saw them sitting in the back on top of some equipment. No cardboard or tissue paper was put inside of them to maintain their posture and shape, so regardless of how he cleaned them, they ended up with creases and water marks with in the folds. 2) He threw them in a trash bag and handed them to me. 3) I look in the bag and they were RUINED. Each pair costs approx 250$, and both were DRY, CRUNCHY, covered in dog hair, lint, with water marks and creases. I flipped out. Thats half of grand worth of my belongings ruined because of lazy incompetence. I ASKED if they knew how to clean them and pointed out they were suede, and instead of saying no, he took them and washed them instead of using suede cleaner because he'e money hungry and greedy! Then had the nerve to get ignorant and start cussing at me. DO NOT GO HERE!

Happy to say that I needed a pair of jeans himmed for a event and it was last minute. The staff took the jeans and within 20 minutes I was out and it was a great time there with the staff

Brought in my husbands shirt to be pressed and when I got it home I realized it had a new shirt sticker ironed/melted into the collar.  When I brought it back in to see if they would remove it they refused.  They said I would have to pay for them to try and get it out.  They refused to believe me and refused to make it right.   Previously they’ve always done good work, but I cannot continue to take my business to folks who won’t take responsibility for their mistake. He actually blamed me.  I could never recommend this location to anyone. You can see by the shirt size and the sticker that they’re not the same size.  I also know for a fact the shirt was not new as I had had it dry cleaned there at least 2-3 times before.  All of the shirts that I brought in I had already washed.  They were just to be pressed.  Even IF the sticker came off of my husbands other shirts the person doing the ironing should’ve noticed it prior to ironing it and should’ve removed it.  Just negligence on their part.  Ive made mistakes before when servicing a client and I’ve always taken responsibility and make it right.  Poor business, poor customer service, poor standards.

Brought in my favorite suede jacket to be cleaned. They charged me $50 because they said it'd need to be brushed out, which was fair enough. Picked it up and it clearly hadn't been brushed - looked like they just ran it through a machine. The color was darkened, streaked, and the texture roughened. They didn't *quite* ruin the jacket but it certainly looked better before I brought it to them.

They've done nice work for me in the past so I was very surprised and disappointed. I won't be doing business with them again.

I was charged $74 for the cleaning of two children’s dresses and an alteration to a pair of pants. $74!!! Then when I asked for an itemized receipt the lady told me she couldn’t print one. Then she told me I was late picking up my OWN CLOTHES! So was I charged a late fee? I’ll never ever give them my hard earned money. Save your coins and find someone who will provide great customer care & not overcharge you!

Edit: I get home & my daughter’s dress is burned. I called, was hung up on, go up there and they dismissed me and would not refund me at all. The man calls the lady on the phone and she says “bring receipt and I give your little twenty dollars.” I called the police, police wouldn’t get involved due to it being a civil matter. And guess what? I snatch the itemized  receipt and they charged me for three dresses when I only dropped  two dresses. They overcharge, burn items and won’t refund.

They ruined my expensive item — faded fabric and white ironing marks — then claimed nothing was wrong. Refused proper reimbursement and offered an eBay-level amount which I did not take. They even lost it and told me to “come back in the afternoon.” The manager was shockingly unprofessional over the phone, with zero interest in resolving the issue. She’s not suited for any customer-facing role. Absolutely unacceptable.

We brought my husband's suit and his white button down shirt to be dry cleaned here. The suit turned out fine but his white shirt was ruined. Came back with holes in it and basically the same stains that it went in with. When I asked the owner about the stains still present, she said don't worry about the stains, his suit jacket will cover the stains and no one will see it. We had to find him a new shirt the night before our trip. Not the service I was hoping for....won't be using this company again.

My favorite AX T-Shirt had a seemingly set stain that I took to different cleaners,hoping they get it removed but i got disappointed every time!
My friend ,Joe,suggested I take it to Mr Philip Dry Cleaners in Julington Creek.I thought I didn't have anything to lose by trying one more time so I dropped it off on my way to work.Three days later,I went to pick up my clothes,and lo and behold,the stain was gone.I was amazed and upon further inquiry I found out the owner,Mr Philip,is a credentialed chemist and member of the American Chemists Society.I would definitely recommend these cleaners to any one looking for an excellent job done on their clothes.

Have used this dry cleaner for 20 years but NO more.  Brought in son’s AFJROTC shirt on Saturday and was told it would be ready Tuesday after 5.  At 5:50 on Tuesday told it came out of the machine with a spot on it so it’s being re-washed and will be ready when they open at 7:30 am.  My husband explained our son needed it for a uniform inspection grade Wednesday morning.  Still not ready Tuesday at 7:30 am so returned on his way to school with my son.  Waited 30 minutes and they can’t find it!  Don’t know why they take your phone number when they never call it.  Going in again today and if they still can’t find it I’ll be informing them they owe us $15 because that’s what we’re going to have to reimburse the U.S. Air Force.  Not to mention our wasted time and gas.  I had to email his sergeant so his grade wasn’t impacted.  My son had already explained and showed him the dry cleaning receipt.  I see from a Yelp review this is happening to others here recently.  NEVER AGAIN!  Go elsewhere!

PSA to avoid goalpost laundry for your dry cleaning needs. I brought my dress in for cleaning. I had only worn this dress once and I don’t dry clean often but this dress was very expensive and I wanted it properly cared for.  I dropped it off the Wednesday for pickup today. Again, I have only work this dress once and it was never anywhere near bleach. When I picked it up, the bleach stains on the back were the very first thing I noticed. I asked why there were bleach stains on my dress and he claimed I brought it in that way. I insisted I did not, there was no way. He said it was noted on the ticket. I told him it was not as it wasn’t on my ticket and it wasn’t noted when I dropped it off. He said they noted it after I dropped it off. He refused to do anything about it insisting it was my fault. I could feel by how quiet he was and the way he avoided eye contact with me that he knew they had messed it up.

I am livid. My nice dress is ruined. And it’s so obvious that I saw it as soon as he handed it to me. Wih no way to prove they ruined it, I’m stuck with the damaged dress. So please, avoid this place. There are enough other places to go that it’s not worth l the risk.

I've been using this location for two years, mostly after the employees are finished for the day. I like the atmosphere here. A lot of customers are willing to help with advice on machines if you ask. Dryers cost are 6 minutes for a quarter. All the washing machines are relatively easy to use with instructions  on them.

I do suggest that when you go to dry your clothes, start with 1 quarter to begin with to make sure the dryer is heating up. It is not hot by 4 minutes in, check that the settings are correct. It the settings are correct and it is still not hot by the end of the 6 minutes, then you need to switch to a different dryer. Doing this can save you time and money.

I have not had a reason to use the dry cleaner services, but they steady business and repeat customers. This tells me that the employees work hard and are good at what they do.

There is a picnic table just outside the door if you want to eat. There is no wifi service and pets are not allowed inside. The door can be opened in both directions and can stay open if pushed far enough (it is not automatic). I do suggest bringing your own toliet paper for the restroom as the employees are not there in the evening to resupply it if it runs out.

My stackable washer and dryer are too small for my comforter so I bundled up the piece and headed here to use the jumbo machines. All in all it took less than 2 hours start to finish. Cost less than 8 bucks. I believe it was 3.75 for the washer and about the same for the dryer.  Had I used a dry cleaner the cost would have been over 25 bucks. The place was clean. Parking right outside the front door. They also offer a service to wash your clothes.

Decent dry cleaners. My clothes came back better than expected. Cheaper than the others in the area too. I only gave three stars because the hours are terrible. The front window says one set of hours, the door inside says something else, and the receipt listed totally different times. When you rely on clean clothes for your job, operating hours make a difference as to where you can take stuff to clean.

Honestly, this is the best place in town. Great prices and GREAT service. He always has my king comforter done the same day. And the cousin owns the sandwich shop next door! So while you’re doing your laundry, get a sandwich next door. Support local businesses like this one!
